September 24, 2009—Seattle, Washington—Sistahology.com, a new online journaling website, today launched as an outlet for women to engage and write their private thoughts and feelings and, as a result, to help reduce stress, engage in emotional healing and discover themselves through self-reflection—right from the comfort of their computer.
“I created Sistahology for women like me who deal every day with the challenges and the rewards of juggling busy lives,” says creator Andrea Brooks. “Based on my own experience—I’ve kept a private diary practically since I was old enough to write—I can tell you that journaling has not only given me a way to relive all the joys I’ve experienced as a wife, a mother, a daughter, and a friend, but also an outlet for when things haven’t always gone as planned.”
Journaling has been proven to play a positive role in mental and emotional healing and as an effective tool for decreasing anxiety, bereavement and distress. In the past, traditional handwritten journaling has been an issue for many women concerned about the privacy and safety of their entries. It has also been seen as a hindrance for women suffering from arthritis who aren’t able to write for long periods of time. Modern-day technology and innovation have eliminated the need for a physical lock-and-key notebook, helping women express themselves freely and without burden.
Sistahology.com allows subscribers to access their journals securely from any web browser with a user name and log-in for private viewing and reading. Users of the site pay a small subscription fee of $18 and have access to articles related to wellness and journaling, news and events on mental and emotional health, and a daily blog personally written by creator Andrea Brooks.
